The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved power cuts of 2 hours and 20 minutes this week.

The PUCSL said that the power cuts will be enforced from Tuesday, 3rd of January to Friday, 06th of January 2023.

The power cuts will be enforced for groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W during this period.

A power cut of 1 hour will be implemented during the daytime and a power cut of 1 hour and 20 minutes will be enforced at night. (NewsWire)

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved the Ceylon Electricity Board’s request to extend the daily power cuts to 2 hours and 20 minutes.

PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said that the extended power cuts will be enforced from Friday, 23rd September to Sunday, 25th September.

Thereby, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W will experience power cuts for 1 hour during daytime and 1 hour and 20 minutes at night.

Janaka Ratnayake said the power cuts have been extended considering the unavailability of Old Laxapana Stage 1, lack of fuel at Westcoast, and sudden increase in electricity demand. (NewsWire)
